Who are we?

Zamana was born in Solitude, Mauritius, in November 2024. It is a non-for-profit organisation in the Republic of Mauritius, but it is not yet incorporated. Its aim is to research, analyse, comment on and raise awareness of public affairs. It also campaigns for causes and values it believes in, such as justice, fairness, the fight against poverty and excellence in public health. Dr. Shafick Osman set up Zamana on 4 August 2025 at the Voila Bagatelle Hotel in Moka, Mauritius. The organisation was known to the public in July 2025 when Dave Kissoondoyal, one of the founding members, went on a hunger strike. He was protesting about the government's decision to increase the state pension age from 60 to 65 years old in Mauritius.
